About the Author

Suvarna Khadilkar MD, DGO, FICOG, CIMP

After graduating from Grant Medical College[GMC],Mumbai, she joined as a lecturer, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, JJ Hospital and GMC,Mumbai,and later was working as Associate Professor and Unit Chief at St George Hospital and Cama and Albless Hospital, Mumbai. She passed MPSC exam on merit no 1 state level, for the post of Professor and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Government Medical College, Kolhapur, Maharashtra. She is an undergraduate and postgraduate teacher for 25 years and examiner of Mumbai University and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. After having worked in various capacities for the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India (JOGI), for 20 years, she has now taken charge as Editor-in-Chief, JOGI, 2017. She was elected as the Chair Endocrinology Committee of FOGSI 2011–13, and also the joint treasurer FOGSI has now taken charge as treasurer FOGSI.

Pursuing her interest in endocrinology, she has successfully completed the endocrinology diploma. And was conferred the PG Diploma of Endocrinology, University of South Wales, UK, with distinction, and with her expertise she has been appointed as the recognized teaching faculty in endocrinology department at the university of south wales. She started her tenure in Indian Menopause Society (IMS) as Mumbai chapter secretary of IMS in 2008, later she was elected as the Secretary General,2013, Vice President in 2015, and elected unopposed as president. She is the current National President of this prestigious body IMS, 2017. She has held the mantle of President post, Association of Medical Women of India, Mumbai branch for five years 2011–2016, and Treasurer AMWI central office for three years. She is an active executive member of Mumbai Obstetrics and Gynecological Society (MOGS) since 2002 and served as Chairperson, Menopause and Reproductive Endocrinology Committee of MOGS. She is an office bearer as clinical secretary of Prestigious MOGS. She has delivered several lectures, orations, keynote addresses, and more than 300 invited talks all over India. She has organized more than 100 CMEs and workshops across the country and beyond. She is the author of over 35 research papers cited world over by many authors. Many significant contributions have been made by her to literature. First time Indian reference range for amniotic fluid index was established in 2003, first time clot conversion factor was devised for accurate assessment of blood loss in 2016, and introduced New Name and nomenclature system for PCOS, published in 2016. Dr. Khadilkar has six textbooks to her credit on DUB, menopause, and reproductive endocrinology. She has published more than 100 articles at national and international levels. She is a recipient of about 25 awards for the research. A few to mention, Pramila Bhatia Young Scientist Award, Dr. Kumud P Tamaskar Research prize, Dr. CS Dawn prize, FOGSI—Nimish Shelat Research Award for Reproductive Endocrinology prize, and FOGSI—DC Dutta prize for best publication in 2014.
