Design and Engineering, as per APJ Abdul Kalam Tech. University portraying a systematic methodology to design artefacts, the book provides an elementary and easily comprehensible material for the students studying design and engineering course in the second semester of BTech Programme (all branches) at APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala, and many other Indian universities. Developed with a novel outlook and state-of-the-art philosophy, the text material is covered in a simple, clear and logical manner. Topics include introduction to the design process, ideation and creative design, design process and different stages in design, importance of communication in design, design analysis, how to engineer a design from prototype to product, design for ‘X’ concept, role of engineering in design, influence of culture and tradition on design, modular designs, ‘thinking out of the box’ concept, design for quality, reliability, safety, manufacturing, assembly and maintenance, internet of things, intellectual property rights, etc. The F Annexure at the end of text has been revised with more worked out examples and additional questions for practice.
