This discrete mathematics to our computer science and mathematics students to teach them certain aspects of noncontinuous mathematics such as boolean arithmetic, combinatorics, and graph theory, as well as to help them develop the skills of mathematical reasoning: deduction, proof, and recursive thinking. This book is designed to do both in a one-semester course for computer-science majors and mathematics majors in their first or second year. The text assumes no prerequisites beyond the mathematical maturity usually provided by one semester of calculus and a high-level computer language.
