This book has had no parallel in the past century. An Anthology of great value was selected and arranged by Francis Turner Palgrave in 1861. The poems were distributed in Books, I corresponding to the ninety years closing about 1616, II to 1700, III to 1800 and IV to 1850. This anthology therefore, reflects the natural growth and evolution of English Poetry.
