The material in the Phantom Nursing Notes series is presented in the areas of Medical-Surgical. Maternal-Newborn, Pediatric, Psychiatric and Community Health nursing. The content follows the nursing process approach. The format throughout the series includes the following: 1)content area; 2) definition; 3) etiology and pathophysiology; 4) assessment data; 5) treatment including medical and surgical management, pharmacological agents, and 6) nursing interventions, including implementation of plans. Independent and interdependent functions. Preoperative and postoperative preparation and checking of lab values. The chapters on Community Nursing includes two parts. The first part describes the newer concept of community nursing in which a group or the entire community is the client. The second part covers specific diseases encountered by the nurse in the community.
