    About the Author

    Baijayantimala Mishra MD, FIDSA, FIMSA, MAMS is currently Additional Professor, Department of Microbiology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. After completing her postgraduation in microbiology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, she joined Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, where she worked for near 13 years and rose to the position of Professor in Virology. Dr Mishra has vast experience in dealing diagnosis of all clinically relevant viral infections, and has developed several molecular diagnostics for various viral infections. She has conducted more than 12 research projects on viral infections as principal investigator aided by various funding agencies, including Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Science and Technology (DST, Government of India). She has to her credit over 80 scientific publications in national and international journals of repute, her publication on parvovirus in American Journal of Hematology has been cited in British Society for Haematology guideline for aplastic anemia, and she has contributed two chapters on viral infections (‘viral pneumonia’ and ‘non-rotaviral diarrhea’) in two different books. She has more than 20 years of teaching experience, having guided several MD, PhD, DM and MSc students. She has been awarded Fellow of Infectious Disease Society of America.
