    About the Author

    Shakuntala Murtyis presently working in the capacity of Professor and Head, Emergency Medicine Department, St. John's Medical College Hospital, Bengaluru, Karnataka. She has graduated from Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam and completed her postgraduate degree in General Medicine from the same institution. She went on to pursue her MRCP (UK) and also became a Fellow of the Academic College of Emergency Experts, India. As a faculty she has been contributing to the Department of Emergency Medicine at St. John's Medical College Hospital, Bengaluru since 2001 and is currently professor and head of the department. She is a member of the Emergency Medicine Association of India. Apart from this, she is also a member of the Specialists Board in Emergency Medicine of the National Board of Examinations. She has clinical and academic experience of over 20 years in this specialty and is keenly dedicated to its further development.
