This manual attempts to be a practical guide to epidemiology and itsrelationship to planning, management and evaluation. It emphasizes the use of epidemiological health information in district health planning and shows how to obtain, analyse and make use of this information. The production of this manual, supported throughout its evolution by the Scientific Working Group on Epidemiology of the UNDP/ World Bank WHO Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, has a long history and several experimental versions have been produced.
