About the Author | Raghavendra Bhat MD is currently Professor and Head, Department of Medicine, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. A proud recipient of 4 gold medals at KMC and 5 gold medals from Mysore University, he also received the Pfizer gold medal (for academic excellence) and Saroj Jyothi gold medal (for excellence in research in respiratory medicine). He has special interest in clinical medicine and respiratory medicine. He strongly believes in bedside teaching, use of blackboard to evolve a concept, but uses images from his personal collection for teaching various diseases and concepts. His collection of chest X-rays is internationally famous and also has collection of ECGs some of which have been used in this book. The turning point in his academic career was acceptance and publication of a chest X-ray portfolio by the prestigious American journal Hospital Medicine in 1999 which was the only article to be accepted from outside the US in 35 years! He is on the international advisory panel for clinical methods by Barbara Bates and Sapira. Padmanabh Kamath MD, DM is currently Associate Professor, Department of Cardiology, KMC Hospital, Mangalore. He completed his MD from KMC, Mangalore, and DM in cardiology from CMC&H, Vellore. Thereafter he worked as Assistant Professor in KMC Hospital, Manipal. His special area of interest is ECG in congenital heart disease. He has several national and international publications. He received NCCP Young Scientists Award for his paper 'Utility of pulse wave analysis in obstructive disease' at NAPCON 2005 held in Kolkata. |
