The igneous section includes texture, mega- and microstructures and petrography of igneous rocks, in addition to norm, modal analysis and graphic plot of petrochemistry data. The chapter on norm includes seventy-five problems with answers. The metamorphic section deals with fabric and petrography of metamorphic rocks and triangular (ACF, AKF and AFM) diagrams. About the Author | Rabindra Nath Hota PhD, DSC is currently Professor, Postgraduate Department of Geology, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, where he has served for more than 30 years. He did his PhD degree on subsurface geology of Barakar formation and DSC on sedimentation of Damuda group of Talcher coalfield. Dr Hota has published more than 60 research papers in different reputed national and international journals like Gondwana Research, Mathematical Geosciences, Asian Journal of Earth Science and Journal of the Geological Society of India. He has also acted as the reviewer of many national and international journals. He has been actively engaged in collaborative research with Osaka City University, Japan; Aligarh Muslim University, JNPG College, Lucknow, and Nagpur University. He has successfully completed two research projects funded by the Government of Odisha and UGC. He is life member of several professional bodies. He is a coauthor of the Bureau's Higher Secondary (+2) geology books published by the Government of Odisha. He has delivered a keynote address on the geometry of Barakar coal seams in the international symposium on the "Assembly and breakup of Rodinia and Gondwana and growth of Asia" held at Osaka, Japan. |
