    About the Author

    AP Singh MVSc, PhD, FISVS, FNAVS is former Vice-Chancellor, Uttar Pradesh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Evam Go Anusandhan Sansthan (DUVASU), Mathura, UP. He started his career from Veterinary College, Mhow, and also served IVRI, Izatnagar, and Veterinary College, Pantnagar. He held positions of Professor and Head, Department of Surgery and Radiology; Director, Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex; and Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, HAU (now LUVAS), Hisar, Haryana. He also served as Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science, JNKVV, Jabalpur. He was on foreign teaching assignment in Veterinary College, Mosul, Iraq (1985-89), Ethiopia (2007-10) and Fiji (2013-17). He was Executive Secretary and later President, Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery (ISVS). He remained member of the boards of management of West Bengal University of Animal Science and Fisheries, and IVRI, Izatnagar; member, planning board of RAJUVAS, Bikaner, and member, executive council of Veterinary Council of India. He has been honoured by ISVS by commendation and Prof Ratan Singh memorial award for life-time achievement in veterinary surgery, and felicitated by veterinarians of Jabalpur division. He is Fellow of ISVS and National Academy of Veterinary Science. He has 237 scientific publications to his credit in journals of national and international repute and14 chapters in books. He is collaborating editor of Ruminant Surgery (CBSPD) and coauthor of Radiology of Farm Animals. He is now settled in Varanasi, UP.

    Jit Singh MVSc, Phd, FISVS, FNAVS is former Professor and Head, Department of Surgery and Radiology, and Director, Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, College of Veterinary Sciences, Haryana Agricultural University (now LUVAS), Hisar, and former Additional Director of Research and Director Students Welfare, HAU, Hisar. He was founder Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Navania, Vallabhnagar, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur (now in RAJUVAS, Bikaner), Rajasthan. He also served MPUAT as Director Resident Instructions cum Dean Postgraduate Studies, COE, and Registrar. He was on foreign teaching assignment from 1985 to 1988 in College of Veterinary Science, Tripoli, Libya. He has to his credit more than 250 scientific publications in journals of national and international repute. He has been honoured for his contributions in the field of surgery and radiology by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Teachers’ Association of Haryana Agricultural University, Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery (ISVS) and Indian Veterinary Association. He is Fellow of ISVS and Fellow of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences. He is member of the planning board of Kamdhenu University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He was member of the ICAR Task Force (2017) which prepared guidelines for accreditation of higher agricultural institutes in India and Chairman of Broad Subject Matter Area Committee (2018) for restructuring postgraduate curricula and syllabi of veterinary clinical subjects. He is editor of Ruminant Surgery—A Textbook of Surgical Diseases of Cattle, Buffaloes, Camel, Sheep and Goats (CBSPD) and collaborating editor of Selected Topics on Camelids and has also written several chapters in other books. He is now settled at Udaipur, Rajasthan.
