The text matter is complete and up to date with recent advances incorporated. Organization and layout of the book into two sections, appreciated by the readers, has been retained as such: Section I. Disorders of Lens: Basic and Clinical Aspects. It includes six chapters devoted to different clinical and basic aspects of crystalline lens and its disorders. Section II. Cataract Surgery: It comprises 14 chapters devoted to different aspects of various surgical procedures including a chapter each on evolution of cataract surgery, anaesthesia for cataract surgery, IOL power calculation, ophthalmic viscosurgical devices (OVDs), IOLs, preoperative work up and preparation for cataract surgery, different surgical techniques and complications of cataract surgeries and their management. All aspects of cataract surgery have been covered in depth. Since the present day cataract surgery has evolved over the years, as cataract refractive surgery, a chapter each has been devoted to biometry and 'astigmatism control in cataract surgery'. Intraocular lens implantation in the absence of posterior capsular support is described as separate chapter.

    About the Author

    A K Khurana MS,FAICO,CTO (London) is currently Professor and Head, Department of Ophthalmology, SGT Medical College, Budhera, Gurugram, Haryana, and former Senior Professor and Head, Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, PGIMS, University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, Haryana. He has been teaching ophthalmology for the last more than four decades. In addition to this book, he has written 21 popular books and has to his credit more than 260 scientific papers published in national and international journals of repute. He has contributed several chapters to four postgraduate reference books published in India and abroad.He has also been Editor of Indian Journal of Strabismus in Paediatric Ophthalmology (IJSPO), Haryana Journal of Ophthalmology (HJO) and North Zone Journal of Ophthalmology (NZJO). He was awarded WHO Fellowship for higher studies at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, in 1994. He was also awarded Certificate in Tropical Ophthalmology at International Centre for Eye Health, Institute of Ophthalmology, University of London, UK. He has been honored with 'Distinguished Author Award' by the Federation of Educational Publishers of India; 'HOS Award for Excellence in Ophthalmology'; 'Excellence Award' by Strabismological Society of India; 'Life Time Achievment Award' by Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society of India (SPOSI), 2017; 'National Lifetime Achievement Award' by Uttarakhand State Ophthalmological Society (UKSOS), 2018; 'Ophthalaurel Award' by Governor of Haryana on behalf of Ophthaquest, 2018; fellowship of All India Collegium of Ophthalmologists (FAICO); gold medal by Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society of India (IIRSI); PN Sinha Oration Award by Bihar Ophthalmological Society, 2019; Prof. Ishwar Chandra Memorial Best Teacher in Ophthalmology ACOIN Award, 2020; SK Lal Oration by HOS in 2022, Lifetime Achievement awards by NZOS and International Society for Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (ISMSICS) in 2022; and Sushrut Samman, highest award of Forum of Ophthalmic Teachers of India,2023.
