| About the Author | Harbans Lal PhD, FACBI, FSOBSI, FIAO joined as Lecturer in Biochemistry at Medical College (now Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences), Rohtak, Haryana,in 1976,and retired from there as Professor in 2009.Thereafter,he joined as Senior Professor and Head, Department of Biochemistry, Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha (Hisar). He has been teaching biochemistry to medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy and BSc MLT students. He has also supervised a large number of PhD and MD students,written 12 textbooks and published more than 150 research papers in various international and national journals, and also served as peer-reviewer of several international and national research journals. Dr Harbans Lal has also been a visiting faculty at Louisiana State University Medical Centre, New Orleans, USA; Department of Biosciences, MD University, Rohtak; and SD Postgraduate Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak. He is a life member of several scientific bodies, including Nutrition Society of India, Association of Clinical Biochemists of India, International Federation of Clinical Chemistry, Society of Biological Chemists of India, Society of Biological Scientists of India, Indian Science Congress Association, and Laboratory Animal Scientists Association. Dr Lal is recipient of several international and national awards, including Nutrition Society of India's Young Scientists Award, World Health Organization Fellowship Award, Fellowship of the Association of Clinical Biochemists of India, Fellowship of the Society of Biological Scientists of India, Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital Oration Award, and the Best Teacher Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Director, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences,Rohtak,Haryana. Ekta Debnath MBBS, MD, DNB, Fellowship in Molecular Genetics (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi) completed her graduation and postgraduation from Pt BD Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, Haryana. After completing her senior residency and pool officership at AIIMS, New Delhi, she joined as faculty at Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, and worked there till 2021. Her field of interest is Molecular Diagnostics and newborn screening along with Clinical chemistry. Presently, she is working as Professor, Department of Biochemistry at Maulana Azad Medical College,New Delhi. She has supervised several MD students for their thesis work. She has several national and international publications, and is also working as reviewer of different indexed journals. She is also examiner for different universities,AIIMS, New Delhi,and other AIIMS,besides,National Board of Examination,New Delhi. Dr Debnath has served as an ethical expert for several years in the Institute. She is also a member of different Institutes' technical committees, expert committees in the Ministry of Health, Govt of India and several AIIMS. She is also National Medical Council (NMC) inspector and NABL Assessor by the QCI. Her work during COVID pandemic as molecular expert in establishing molecular diagnostic lab in LHMC was widely acclaimed.
